ALucknow court has summoned Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in connection with a defamation case over his alleged derogatory remarks against Veer Savarkar.
The case was filed against Rahul Gandhi for remarks he made about Savarkar during his Bharat Jodo Yatra in November 2022. Gandhi allegedly referred to Savarkar as a “British servant” who received a pension from the colonial government.
The court found that the Congress MP had spread hatred and ill will in society through his remarks.
“Distributing previously printed pamphlets and leaflets at press conferences demonstrates that Rahul Gandhi had weakened and insulted the basic characteristics of the nation by spreading hatred and enmity in society,” the court’s order was quoted by LiveLaw in its report.
