Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is likely to make some announcements for the homemakers in poll-bound Rajasthan during an election rally in Jhunjhunu district on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, in a post on X, said Tuesday: “Special information for the women of Rajasthan. Tomorrow, Priyanka Gandhi will make some big announcements for the homemakers of Rajasthan in Jhunjhunu.” This will be her second visit to the state this week. On October 20, Priyanka had addressed a rally in eastern Rajasthan’s Dausa district. The Congress is targeting the BJP dispensation over the ERCP for allegedly “backtracking” on its promise to declare the ERCP a national project so its cost – an estimated Rs 40,000 crore – could be shared between the Centre and the state.
The party had earlier announced that a programme would be organised to unveil the statue of former Union Minister Shishram Ola in Jhunjhunu district on October 25 and a public meeting has also been held in Ardavat village on the occasion. Priyanka will later address the rally to be attended by Gehlot, Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra and former Deputy CM Sachin Pilot. This will be her second visit to the state this week. The Congress is targeting the BJP dispensation over the ERCP for allegedly “backtracking” on its promise to declare the ERCP a national project so its cost – an estimated Rs 40,000 crore – could be shared between the Centre and the state. At the rally, part of the Congress’ series of programmes being organised over the issue of the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP), the party presented a united face with Vadra, Gehlot and Pilot talking about unity. The BJP is facing division whereas the Congress is united and is sitting on the stage together, Vadra said. Targeting the BJP for saying that it is contesting the Rajasthan assembly elections on Narendra Modi’s face, Vadra asked if he would quit as the prime minister and become the chief minister of Rajasthan. “The focus of Modiji and the BJP is not on your wellbeing,” she told the gathering. “How to remain in power, how to strengthen themselves, this is their only goal and their focus is on this only. It has become their policy to take money out of poor people’s pockets and give it to big industrialists.” How many schemes did the BJP launch in the state when it was in power, she asked. Voting for the 200 assembly seats in the state will be held on November 25, while counting of votes will place on December 3.
