Ram Gopal Varma Calls For Protest Over Allu Arjun’s Arrest, Links It To Sridevi Tragedy: Will Police Go To Heaven?

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has once again come out in support of Telugu star Allu Arjun. He has criticised the recent arrest of Allu Arjun following a tragic stampede at the Hyderabad premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule, which resulted in the death of a female fan. The incident occurred at Sandhya Theatre, where an overwhelming crowd gathered to see the superstar. The Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag director has called for actors to protest against what he considers an unjust arrest and drew parallels to a similar tragedy that happened during the filming of Kshana Kshanam, starring the late actress Sridevi.

Ram Gopal Varma criticises Allu Arjun’s arrest, links it to Sridevi tragedy

Recently, the Sarkar director took to his official X account (formerly Twitter) and strongly defended Allu Arjun, saying that celebrities cannot be held accountable for the consequences of their immense popularity. He wrote, “Every STAR should STRONGLY protest against @alluarjun’s ARREST because for any celebrity, whether it’s a FILM STAR or a POLITICAL STAR, is it a crime for them to be ENORMOUSLY POPULAR???”

Varma recalled a comparable incident from the shooting of Kshana Kshanam, where three people reportedly died in a massive crowd gathered to see Sridevi. Questioning the rationale of the legal actions taken against Arjun, he added, “Three people died in the lakhs of crowd who came to see SRIDEVI during the shooting of my film KSHANA KSHANAM. So, will the #TelanganaPolice now go to #HEAVEN to ARREST #Sridevi???”

About Allu Arjun’s arrest in Sandhya Theatre Stampede case

The Pushpa star’s arrest took place on December 13, following allegations that he and the theatre management failed to inform the police about his visit, which led to the fatal stampede. Arjun spent a night in Chanchalguda Central Jail and was initially placed under a 14-day judicial remand. However, the Telangana High Court later granted him interim bail for four weeks.

In the aftermath, Allu Arjun pledged Rs 25 lakh to the family of the deceased fan. Meanwhile, his father, Allu Aravind, visited another injured victim – a boy currently on a ventilator – and confirmed that his condition is improving.
