Revanth Reddy Pushes for BrahMos Expansion in Hyderabad, Inaugurates Google Cybersecurity Centre

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has called on BrahMos Aerospace, the Indo-Russian missile joint venture, to expand its operations in Hyderabad, citing the city’s strategic potential for defense manufacturing and innovation. The appeal came during a high-level meeting with BrahMos officials, including Dr. Jaitheerth R Joshi (MD & CEO) and Surampudi Sambasiva Prasad (Executive Director, BrahMos Hyderabad).

🛰️ Hyderabad as a Defense Corridor Hub

Reddy emphasized that both Hyderabad and Bengaluru are ideal for establishing a Defense Corridor, offering robust infrastructure, skilled talent, and government support. He assured the delegation of full cooperation and incentives to facilitate BrahMos’ expansion in Telangana.

🛡️ Google Safety Engineering Centre (GSEC) Launched

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Google Safety Engineering Centre (GSEC) at Hi-Tech City, marking Google’s first such facility in the Asia-Pacific region. The centre will serve as a cybersecurity innovation hub, focusing on:

  • Advanced digital safety research
  • AI-driven security tools
  • Skill development and job creation

Reddy highlighted that Google’s first Indian office opened in Hyderabad in 2007, and today, the city hosts nearly 7,000 Google employees. He urged the tech giant to train local youth and boost employment, especially as Telangana produces over 1.1 lakh engineering graduates annually, many of whom lack industry-ready skills.

🎓 Young India Skills University Initiative

To bridge the skill gap, the state has launched the Young India Skills University, led by industrialist Anand Mahindra, aimed at enhancing employability and aligning education with industry needs.

🌐 Telangana’s Global Tech Ambitions

Revanth Reddy reiterated Telangana’s emergence as a top investment destination, stating,

“Global companies are scouting for suitable locations, and Hyderabad ranks first in online searches for business hubs.”

The twin developments—defense sector expansion and cybersecurity leadership—underscore Telangana’s ambition to become a $1 trillion economy driven by innovation, security, and strategic partnerships.

Stay tuned for updates on BrahMos’ expansion plans and GSEC’s impact on India’s cybersecurity landscape.
