Shah Rukh Khan is not only known for his filmography, but is also popular for owning one of the most lavish homes, among Bollywood industry, in the heart of Bandra.
The superstar for his residence, Mannat, is expected to receive a massive amount from the government for the land his residence is built on. It has been learned that SRK will be receiving a refund of Rs. 9 crore from the Maharashtra government, due to a miscalculation related to the land payment. The recent reports have revealed that SRK will soon be refund after it has come forward that excess payment was made in 2019 by the actor.
The property, spreading across 2,446 sq. mt., was leased by King Khan and his wife, Gauri Khan, through a registered agreement back in 2001. The bungalow being located on collector’s land – had to be paid a levy on unearned income which is a percentage of the difference between the market price and the ready reckoner price.
Subsequently in 2019, the Khans converted the ownership of leased property (class2) to complete ownership (class1) and for which they had to once again pay a premium of ₹ 27.5 crore. According to Satish Bagal, resident suburban deputy collector, “The premium was to be paid on the value of the land. Instead, it was calculated on the basis of the entire construction costs plus the value of land.” The Khans discovered the tabulation error only in September 2022, and Gauri filed an appeal to the collector for a refund which has just been sanctioned.
