Veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha has weighed in on Vikrant Massey’s recent announcement of taking a break from acting. On Monday, Vikrant shocked his fans and netizens by revealing his decision to step away from the limelight temporarily. Initially, many believed that The Sabarmati Report actor was retiring, but he soon clarified that he was simply taking a long break due to burnout.
Speaking, Vikrant explained, “I’m not retiring. Just burned out. Need a long break. Miss home and health are also acting up. People misread it.”
Shatrughan Sinha reflected on Vikrant’s decision, drawing parallels to his own experiences in the industry. Recalling the rigorous demands of his career, Sinha shared with Zoom, “I used to juggle between three shifts, running from one studio to another. Sometimes, I would forget which film I was shooting for.”
Sinha praised Vikrant’s choice to take a break, acknowledging the wisdom in knowing when to pause and recharge. “Aaj kal ke bachche zyada samajhdaar hain (Today’s kids are much smarter). They know where to stop and when to resume again. Unn mein insecurity nahin hai (They are not insecure). We thought, out of sight out of mind,” Sinha remarked.
Filmmaker Aditya Nimbalkar, who directed Vikrant in Sector 36, also supported Vikrant’s decision. He said, “In a day and age where everyone is chasing box office numbers, views, and trends, if he has decided to take a break, spend time with his family, and recharge himself, all power to him. And whenever he is good and ready, I’m sure he will be back ready to restart.”
Vikrant took to social media to explain his decision, posting, “The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realize it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a husband, father, and son. And also as an actor. So, coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last two movies and many years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between. Forever indebted.”
The initial post led to widespread speculation about his retirement, prompting Vikrant to clarify his intentions. He stressed that the break was necessary for his well-being and that he would return to acting once he felt rejuvenated.
On the professional front, Vikrant was last seen in The Sabarmati Report.
