Simon Katich’s Reaction After Jasprit Bumrah Takes Travis Head’s Wicket Goes Viral

Former Australian opener Simon Katich was doing commentary for SEN Cricket on Sunday, December 29, when ‘national treasure’ Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Travis Head.

The left-handed Australian batter, who is celebrating his 31st birthday on Sunday, could only manage to score 1 run from 2 balls. After the world No. 1 Test bowler got rid of Head for the second time in the ongoing Boxing Day Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Katich, who is an Aussie, couldn’t stop himself from celebrating the wicket.

His reaction after Head’s wicket from the commentary box went viral on the internet. Katich was in awe of Bumrah’s performance and couldn’t stop himself from clapping.

“It’s official, King Bumrah. The Boxing Day nightmare continues for Travis Head,” he said on air.

In the first innings of the MCG Test as well, Bumrah dismissed Head for a seven-ball duck.

After taking Head’s wicket on the second ball of the 34th over of Australia’s second innings, Bumrah removed Mitchell Marsh on the last ball of the same over. While Head was caught by Nitish Kumar Reddy, Marsh was caught behind by Rishabh Pant.

After taking his tally of wickets to seven in the Boxing Day Test, Bumrah, in his next over, clean bowled Alex Carey. The wicket of Carey helped him become India’s most successful Test bowler in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) countries.

Bumrah has 142 wickets to his name in Test matches played so far in South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia combined. Bumrah broke Anil Kumble’s record, who finished his career with 141 wickets in 35 Tests for India in SENA countries.

Bumrah overall has 29 wickets to his name in the ongoing edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. If he manages to take four more wickets in the next Test, which is scheduled to take place at Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3-7, 2025, he will break Harbhajan Singh’s record of taking the most wickets in a Test series played between India and Australia. During the 2001 edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Harbhajan dismissed 32 Aussie batters in three matches.
