Why does snoring occur?
Snoring occurs due to pressure on the neck muscles while sleeping at night. Some people have difficulty breathing at night, they feel obstruction while breathing through the nose, hence they snore. Some people have problems with a blocked nose at night, and they also snore. Old people snore more because the muscles of these people become loose and these people are less physically active.
Risk of which diseases?
1. Heart disease- Dr Ramakant says that snoring is a sign of bad health. People who exercise less, eat an unbalanced diet or are overweight snore more. For these people, especially those who are young, snoring increases the risk of heart failure and heart attack.
2. Diabetes- Doctors say that snoring and sleep apnea, which is a sleep disorder, cause the body’s physical activity and insulin effect to be incorrect. This increases the chances of diabetes in such people because the body is not able to process sugar properly.
3. High blood pressure- According to experts, snoring too loudly can also mean high blood pressure. These people suffer from hypertension because snoring slows down the oxygen level in the blood. Sometimes snoring also slows down blood circulation in the heart, which also leads to heart attack.
Apart from this, excessive snoring can also cause depression, memory loss or morning headaches.
How to reduce snoring?
Change your sleeping posture, sleep less on your back.
Install a humidifier in the room, this will keep the air moist.
Follow good habits like reducing smoking and alcohol consumption.
