Sonakshi Sinha Set to Make Her South Cinema Debut with Telugu Thriller ‘Jatadhara’

Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha is reportedly gearing up for her much-anticipated debut in South Indian cinema. Known for her roles in Hindi films, Sonakshi is set to venture into Telugu cinema with the upcoming thriller “Jatadhara,” which also stars Sudheer Babu.

Although an official confirmation is pending, industry sources suggest that Sonakshi has been finalized for a powerful and unique role unlike any she has portrayed before. The film, presented by Zee Studios and produced by Prerna Arora, has already generated significant interest following its grand muhurat ceremony in Hyderabad. According to recent reports, Sonakshi is scheduled to join the cast and begin shooting on March 8.

Interestingly, Sonakshi’s very first film offer was for the Tamil movie “Hey Ram,” where she was to star opposite Kamal Haasan. This marks her long-awaited entry into the South Indian film industry.

Meanwhile, the ‘Dabangg’ actress was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.” The series, set in the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore during the Indian independence movement against the British Empire, revolved around the lives of tawaifs. The Netflix show also featured Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sharmin Segal Mehta, and Taha Shah Badussha. In the series, Sonakshi played dual roles as Rehana Jahan and Fareedan Jahan.

Sonakshi will next be seen alongside her husband, actor Zaheer Iqbal, in the upcoming project “Tu Hai Meri Kiran.” Directed by Karan Rawal and Sanjana Malhotra, this film marks their second collaboration after working together in “Double XXL.” However, the film is currently facing legal issues, with Adlabs raising concerns about copyright infringement, alleging that the song “Tu Hai Meri Kiran” infringes on the rights of several other films in their portfolio.

In addition to “Jatadhara,” Sonakshi’s upcoming projects include “Nikita Roy and the Book of Darkness,” further showcasing her versatility and dedication to her craft.

With her foray into Telugu cinema, Sonakshi Sinha is set to captivate audiences with yet another stellar performance, adding a new chapter to her illustrious career. Fans eagerly await the release of “Jatadhara” and the fresh, dynamic role she is set to bring to life.
