The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex opened flat on Thursday. Bajaj Finance Ltd., and Bharti Airtel Ltd. contributed the most to the benchmark Nifty 50.

As of 9:17 a.m., the Nifty 50 was 3.40 points or 0.02% down at 23,159.70, and the Sensex was trading flat at 76,529.60.

“Nifty 50 is expected to trade between 21,800-23,700, with resistance at 24,000. Suzlon Energy posted strong Q3 results with a 91% profit surge, while KPIT Technologies raised its EBIT margin guidance for FY2025. Stocks to watch include Indian Hotels, DLF, Bajaj Healthcare, and Bajaj Auto for bullish opportunities,” said Prashanth Tapse, senior vice president, research.

Bajaj Finance Ltd., Bharti Airtel Ltd., Bajaj Finserve Ltd., Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. added to Nifty 50 index.

Tata Motors Ltd., Infosys Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd., HDFC Bank Ltd., and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. weighed on the Nifty 50.

On NSE, nine sectors advanced and three declined out of 12. The NSE Nifty Realty rose the most, and the NSE Nifty Auto declined the most.

Broader markets outperformed benchmark indices. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices were trading 0.13% and 0.17% higher, respectively.

On BSE, 14 sectors advanced, and seven declined out of 21. The BSE Realty rose the most, and the BSE Consumer Durables declined the most.

Market breadth was skewed in favour of buyers. Around 1,939 stocks advanced, 840 stocks declined, and 130 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.

Bajaj Healthcare Ltd. has received DCGI approval for the manufacturing of Pimavanserin in India, a drug used to treat hallucinations and delusions associated with Parkinson’s Disease Psychosis, according to an exchange filing.

At pre-open, the NSE Nifty 50 was trading 6.40 points or 0.03% higher at 23,169.50, and the BSE Sensex was trading 0.08% higher at 76,592.19.

Losses in technology stocks weighed on the investors sentiment.

On Wednesday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 ended 0.31% and 0.47% down, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite ended 0.51% down.

The GIFT Nifty was trading near 23,100 in early trade Thursday. Brigade Enterprises Ltd., Chalet Hotels Ltd., and Tata Motors Ltd. share prices may react due to their latest quarter results.

The GIFT Nifty was trading 0.12%, or 27 points, higher at 23,140.50 as of 6:57 a.m.

The Indian equity benchmark indices closed higher for the second day in a row on Wednesday as Shriram Finance Ltd., Bharat Electronics Ltd. and Tata Motors Ltd. led the gains.

The NSE Nifty 50 ended 205.85 points, or 0.90%, up at 23,163.10, and the BSE Sensex ended 631.55 points, or 0.83%, higher at 76,532.96.
