Temba Bavuma jumps to 10th spot, leaves Virat Kohli behind in ICC Test rankings

Temba Bavuma has been rewarded for his stellar performances of 70 and 113 in the first Test against Sri Lanka, as the South Africa skipper climbed 14 spots to achieve a career-high 10th place in the ICC Test rankings. This surge comes after South Africa’s commanding 233-run victory.

Bavuma’s career-best ranking saw him surpass India’s star batter Virat Kohli, who slipped to 14th place despite his match-winning century against Australia in Perth.

England batter Joe Root continues to be at the top of the rankings with 895 rating points followed by compatriot Harry Brook, who has 854 points.

Brook rose to second spot after his outstanding 171 in the first innings of England’s eight-wicket win over New Zealand in Christchurch, marking his seventh Test century.

Brook’s rise pushed India’s young star Yashasvi Jaiswal down to fourth in the updated rankings.

The ICC rankings for Test bowlers and all-rounders saw significant changes following Marco Jansen’s stellar performance in the first Test.

Jansen, named Player of the Match, claimed 11 wickets, including a remarkable 7/13 in the first innings, earning career-high ratings in both categories.

The towering left-arm pacer leapt 19 places to secure ninth on the bowler rankings and climbed 10 spots to reach second among all-rounders. While India’s Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja continue to lead the respective categories.
