To rid city of garbage, mayor launches ‘Ab Dilli Hogi Saaf’ campaign

Mayor Shelly Oberoi Friday said all garbage heaps on the city’s streets will be cleared over the next week as part of ‘Ab Dilli Hogi Saaf’ campaign launched by the AAP-led MCD. Under this, 158 vulnerable points with regard to garbage have been identified in 12 municipal zones.

The MCD plans on increasing its garbage collection resources like rickshaws and battery tippers, said Oberoi, adding the points will be cleaned by first week of October. Under the scheme, 22 points have been earmarked in Civil Lines zone, 13 in Karol Bagh, 10 each in Shahdara North, Najafgarh, Narela, Keshav Puram, West and South Zone. At 37, Rohini has recorded the highest number of such points.

Deputy Mayor Aaley Iqbal said Delhi’s main fight is against heaps of garbage on the streets.

BJP’s Raja Iqbal Singh said, ‘AAP is patting itself on the back by changing the names of the schemes which were running since the time of the BJP.’
