The Budget session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly is set to commence on Friday, March 21, 2025, and will continue until April 1, 2025. This session, the longest in 15 years, will feature seven sittings and is expected to witness extensive discussions on the state’s budget for the financial year 2025-26, along with key legislative matters.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath confirmed that Finance, Planning, and Coordination Minister Pranajit Singha Roy will present the state budget on the first day of the session. The schedule was finalized during a recent Business Advisory Committee meeting chaired by Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen, with participation from ruling party MLAs, opposition leaders, and other key officials.
The government has emphasized its commitment to fostering detailed and in-depth discussions on the budget and other critical issues. Minister Nath stated, “We want maximum participation from both treasury and opposition benches to ensure comprehensive deliberations for the benefit of the state.”
In addition to the budget presentation, the session may also see the introduction of important bills and reports. The government has expressed its openness to incorporating suggestions from the opposition to enhance the legislative process.
This session marks the second assembly meeting of the year, following a three-day session held in January. It reflects the government’s focus on transparency and effective governance.
