Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has strongly condemned the recent Pahalgam terror attack, describing it as a deliberate attempt to disrupt the peace and socio-economic development in Jammu and Kashmir. The attack, which claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists, has sparked nationwide outrage and calls for decisive action against terrorism.
Speaking to the media, Saha highlighted the progress made in J&K following the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A, which he credited for restoring normalcy and boosting tourism in the region. He remarked, “The terrorists are unable to digest these initiatives and successes, and that’s why they resort to violence. Such heinous acts are aimed at destabilizing the region and reversing the progress achieved under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.”
Saha, who also holds the Home portfolio, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. He reiterated his government’s commitment to supporting the Centre’s efforts in combating terrorism and ensuring justice for the victims.
The Tripura CM’s remarks come amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, with India taking diplomatic measures, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and visa restrictions on Pakistani nationals. Saha emphasized the need for a united response to terrorism, urging all states to work collaboratively to eliminate extremist threats.
As the nation mourns the victims of the Pahalgam attack, Saha’s statement underscores the importance of safeguarding peace and progress in J&K.
