Tripura CM Manik Saha Advocates ‘One Nation, One Election’ to Empower Voters and Save Resources

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has voiced strong support for the ‘One Nation, One Election’ initiative, emphasizing its potential to streamline governance, empower voters, and reduce financial waste. Speaking at a discussion organized by the BJP Tripura Pradesh Legal Cell in Agartala, Saha highlighted the disruptions caused by frequent elections, which he said hinder development work, waste resources, and disrupt normal life.

Saha praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing the One Nation, One Election Bill in Parliament, calling it a transformative step toward making the democratic process more citizen-friendly and development-oriented. He argued that synchronized elections would minimize disruptions to education and development projects, ensuring smoother governance.

The Chief Minister also pointed out the financial and manpower strain caused by separate elections, particularly on departments like education, which often provide personnel for election duties. He urged citizens to support the initiative, stating that it would allow voters to exercise their democratic rights more effectively.
