Tripura CM Raises Alarm Over Dismal Pass Rate in Teacher Recruitment Exams, Promises Review

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has expressed serious concern over the alarmingly low pass percentage in the recently held Teacher Eligibility Tests (TET-I and TET-II), calling it a wake-up call for the state’s education system.

According to official results, only 458 out of 8,240 candidates (5.56%) cleared TET-I, while 1,589 of 32,286 candidates (4.92%) passed TET-II, sparking widespread concern among job aspirants and education authorities.

📉 “How Can We Ensure Quality Education Without Quality Teachers?”

Speaking to reporters, CM Saha—who also holds the Education portfolio—said:

“This year, the pass percentage in TET-I and II is very low. I have asked the authorities why the success rate was so poor. If we aren’t able to produce quality teachers, how will they impart quality education in government-run schools?”

He assured that the government would explore solutions to improve teacher training and exam preparedness.

📝 Answer Key Dispute and Legal Recourse

Responding to protests by TET aspirants over alleged discrepancies in answer keys, the Chief Minister stated that the Teachers’ Recruitment Board had denied any irregularities.

“If job aspirants want, they can move court,” he added.

🎓 Focus on Academic Excellence

Earlier in the day, CM Saha felicitated 82 meritorious students from TBSE and Vidyajyoti schools who excelled in the Madhyamik and Higher Secondary exams, reiterating the government’s commitment to raising academic standards across the state.
