Tripura Congress Accuses Amit Shah of Insulting Ambedkar; Protests Erupt

The Tripura’s Sadar District Congress on Friday accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of disrespecting the architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, during the winter session of Parliament. In a fervent display of opposition, Congress workers staged a protest on Friday in front of the Pradesh Congress Bhavan in Agartala city, demanding accountability for Shah’s alleged remarks.

Addressing the media during the protest, a senior Congress leader claimed, “On December 17, during the winter session of Parliament, Amit Shah made derogatory comments about Baba Saheb Ambedkar. This is not just an insult to an individual but to the very foundation of our democracy and Constitution, which Ambedkar gave to the nation.”

The leader further accused the BJP government of harboring anti-Constitutional and anti-democratic sentiments. “The BJP’s actions show their disregard for the principles of equality and justice enshrined in our Constitution. They are systematically undermining the legacy of Baba Saheb Ambedkar,” he alleged.

Highlighting the alleged confrontation outside Parliament, he said, “When the INDIA alliance protested against this insult, BJP MPs retaliated by attacking our leaders, including Rahul Gandhi. Such behavior is unacceptable in a democracy.”

The protestors demanded the immediate dismissal of Amit Shah from the Union Cabinet. “Amit Shah’s actions prove that he stands against the Constitution and its values. He has no moral authority to remain in the government,” stated another Congress worker.

The demonstration concluded with calls for justice and respect for Ambedkar’s legacy. Slogans resonated through the streets as Congress leaders vowed to intensify their agitation if their demands were not met.
