Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced that the state government is actively developing data centers to foster AI and 5G synergy, aiming to transform Tripura into a digital hub for the eastern and northeastern regions.
Tripura’s AI-5G Vision
Speaking at the Rising Northeast Investors’ Summit 2025 in New Delhi, Saha emphasized that AI and 5G technology complement each other, enabling faster performance, greater efficiency, and lower costs.
“It is a symbiotic relationship between 5G and AI. As AI expands, the cost of connectivity continues to decline. The convergence of 5G and AI is not just about speed—it will cater to the demands of next-generation activities,” Saha stated.
Infrastructure Expansion and Digital Transformation
The Tripura government has allocated land for new data centers, which will serve as a digital hub for the entire eastern and northeastern belt of India. The initiative is expected to:
- Enhance AI-driven applications across industries.
- Streamline administrative processes, reducing file clearance times from nine days to three.
- Save over ₹50 crore annually through paperless governance.
5G Deployment and Future Prospects
Tripura has already made significant progress in 5G deployment, with all towns and 583 villages connected. The government aims to leverage AI and 5G to drive innovation, growth, and prosperity across the entire northeastern region.
