Tripura Youth Congress Demands White Paper on Government Employment Figures

The Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress (TPYC) has called on Chief Minister Manik Saha to release a White Paper detailing government sector employment figures during the BJP’s seven-year rule in the state. TPYC leaders argue that contradictory job statistics have created confusion among unemployed youth, demanding transparency from the government.

TPYC’s Concerns Over Employment Data

At a press conference in Agartala, TPYC leader Sahajahan Islam pointed out inconsistencies in the CM’s statements on job creation:

  • December 18, 2024: CM Saha claimed 13,000 posts were filled.
  • April 28, 2025: The number increased to 16,942 jobs.
  • May 22, 2025: CM Saha stated 19,262 positions were filled.

Islam questioned how 6,000 jobs were reportedly filled in just four months, urging the government to clarify recruitment figures.

Tripura’s Unemployment Crisis

TPYC leaders highlighted that Tripura, with a population of 42 lakh, has nearly 7 lakh unemployed youth. They accused the BJP government of delaying recruitment processes, stating that some job selections take over two years to complete.

Youth Congress Warns of Protests

Islam warned that if the CM does not heed their demand, TPYC will mobilize protests across the state. He emphasized that the Youth Congress has always stood behind unemployed youth, vowing to fight for job transparency.
