Tumultuous 2025 for Meta? Mark Zuckerberg warns staff in an internal memo: Be prepared for an intense year

Mark Zuckerberg is apparently leaving no stones unturned in terms of getting ahead of the competition with the Magnificent 7 companies, and is taking some stern measures for 2025, with an internal memo warning employees being the latest development.

Meta employees to witness fresh wave of layoffs?

According to a Fortune report, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has issued an internal memo to his staff to be prepared for a challenging and intense year ahead. The memo contains some key internal company info and also includes some veiled warnings to employees to perform at their optimum level, or they could be laid off.

Meta has also said that the US employees impacted by these cuts would be notified by February 10 and would be given ‘generous severance’ that would be in accordance with the previous rounds of layoffs from the company’s end, according to a Bloomberg report.

First midlevel engineers, then fact-checkers, and now another layoff wave

This reminder about low performers to be laid off comes soon after the fearsome announcement that mid-level Meta engineers will soon be replaced by AI.

If this was not all, Meta also decided to halt its third-party fact-checking program in the United States, and will be following similar lines of X and will introduce something like Community Notes instead.

These would be more like peer-review verification method for various kinds of social media posts, and there would be no third-party fact checking agency involvement in Meta’s operations thereafter in the US.
