Two Poachers Arrested with Tiger Teeth in Baksa, Assam

In a major crackdown on wildlife crime, the Manas Forest Department arrested two poachers in Baksa’s Boro Bazar for attempting to sell tiger teeth illegally. The operation, conducted near Manas National Park, led to the seizure of four tiger teeth, a scooter, and two mobile phones.

The accused, identified as Firoz Narzary (40) from Kumguri and Minister Basumatary (26) from Bongaon, were apprehended red-handed at a tea shop in Boro Bazar. Acting on intelligence inputs, forest officials swiftly carried out the operation, preventing the illegal trade.

Authorities suspect the duo’s involvement in a larger wildlife trafficking network and are currently investigating further. The accused are in custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated against them.

The Manas Forest Department has intensified efforts to combat poaching and illegal wildlife trade in the region, urging the public to report any suspicious activities related to wildlife crime. This operation underscores the importance of vigilance and collaboration in protecting India’s rich biodiversity.
