Union Minister Reviews Central Schemes in Tripura’s Unakoti, Calls for Eco-Tourism and Skill Push

Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Nikhil Khadse conducted a comprehensive review of central flagship schemes in Unakoti district, Tripura, under the ‘Poorvottar Sampark Setu’ initiative. The visit aimed to assess ground-level implementation and accelerate development in the northeastern region.

Key Schemes and Progress Highlights

During the meeting in Kailashahar, Khadse praised the district’s strides in infrastructure and welfare delivery:

  • Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY): 15 projects covering 73.89 km completed in FY 2025–26
  • Jal Jeevan Mission: 89.03% coverage with 47,737 Functional Household Tap Connections
  • SAUBHAGYA & DDUGJY: 100% electricity saturation in EC-Unakoti Circle; 138 Gobar Gas Plants completed
  • PM Awaas Yojana: 12,006 rural and 6,161 urban houses completed
  • MGNREGS: 4.71 lakh person-days generated; 93 “Amrit Sarovar” water bodies developed
  • PM-KISAN: ₹70.39 crore disbursed to 18,790 farmers
  • PMFBY: Insurance support extended to pulse and paddy cultivators

Focus Areas for Future Growth

Khadse emphasized the need to:

  • Strengthen border infrastructure post-flood damage
  • Promote eco-tourism leveraging Unakoti’s heritage and natural beauty
  • Boost agricultural productivity through climate-resilient practices
  • Enhance skill development in bamboo, rubber, and local crafts
  • Improve school infrastructure, especially sanitation and boundary walls

She affirmed that with continued central support, Unakoti can transition from an “aspirational” to an “inspirational” district, contributing to the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
