UP Budget 2025: Major Allocations for Education, Healthcare, and Agriculture

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced significant allocations for education, healthcare, and agriculture in its FY26 budget, totaling Rs 8.08 lakh crore. The budget, presented by Finance Minister Suresh Khanna in the state assembly, underscores the government’s priorities for the coming financial year.

#### Key Allocations

– *Education:* Rs 1,06,360 crore has been earmarked for the education sector, which constitutes 13% of the total budget. This allocation aims to enhance primary and higher education, improve school infrastructure, and elevate learning quality.

– *Healthcare:* The healthcare sector has been allocated Rs 50,550 crore, accounting for 6% of the budget. The government has also introduced the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Abhiyan, offering free medical treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh for home guards, PRD personnel, village watchmen, Shiksha Mitras, Basic Education Department instructors, and honorarium-based personnel.

– *Agriculture and Rural Development:* Rs 89,353 crore has been designated for agriculture and rural development, making up 11% of the budget. This includes funding for agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, dairy, fisheries, cooperatives, rural development, Panchayati Raj, the Namami Gange project, and rural water supply.

#### Infrastructure Development

The highest allocation, Rs 1.79 lakh crore (22% of the total budget), is dedicated to infrastructure development. Key areas include:

– *Energy Sector:* Rs 61,070 crore

– *Irrigation:* Rs 21,340 crore

– *Heavy and Medium Industries:* Rs 24,000 crore

– *Urban Development:* Rs 25,308 crore

– *Housing and Urban Planning:* Rs 7,403 crore

– *Civil Aviation:* Rs 3,152 crore

Additionally, Rs 28,478.34 crore has been set aside for new expenditure categories.

#### Economic Growth Projections

The state’s GDP is projected to grow from Rs 12.89 lakh crore in 2017-18 to Rs 27.51 lakh crore in 2024-25. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized that the budget aims to uplift the poor, farmers, youth, and women, in line with the concept of ‘Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah’ from Sanatan culture. He stated that the central theme of the budget is ‘priority to the deprived,’ aligning with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
