Urvashi Rautela Claims She Was ‘First’ To Join Sanam Re Cast, Yami Gautam Quips ‘We Were All On Board’

Urvashi Rautela, who made her acting debut in the 2013 film “Singh Saab The Great,” was last seen in the Telugu film “Daaku Maharaaj” alongside Nandamuri Balakrishna. She also starred in the 2016 film “Sanam Re” with Yami Gautam and Pulkit Samrat.

A throwback video that has gone viral on social media shows Urvashi claiming that she was the first to join the cast of “Sanam Re.” Yami humorously interrupted, saying that everyone was told the same thing and that they were all on board at the time.

The video clip from Yami, Pulkit, and Urvashi’s 2016 interview with Box Office India has resurfaced on Reddit. Speaking about “Sanam Re,” Urvashi said, “I was the first one to join the cast. At that time, the cast wasn’t decided, who is going to play what.” Yami interrupted, saying, “That’s what was told to everybody. We all were on board,” leaving everyone in splits. Urvashi then mentioned that she signed the film in August 2014, and Pulkit jokingly added, “Mujhse wo puch rahe the, Ye kaisi hai, ye kaisi hai. (They were asking me. How is she?)”.

In response, Urvashi said, “So maybe she (Divya Khosla Kumar) kept it under wraps or whatever. So yeah, I signed at that time. That’s how it all started. A lot of people believe that I got it because of ‘Love Dose,’ the song with Yo Yo Honey Singh, the international music video.” Reacting to this, Pulkit said, “You were so bad in that, Urvashi. How can you get it because of that?” Urvashi continued, “People do tell me that. I mean, I signed this movie first. It somehow came later. That’s how it happened. I have a very wonderful association with them. I did a song ‘Daddy Mummy.’ I have a three-movie deal with them. This is the first film, and I am really excited about it. And I’m also happy with the character which I am playing. It’s a treat to work with her. She is an amazing director.”

“Sanam Re,” directed by Divya Khosla Kumar, was released in theatres on February 12, 2016. After this, Urvashi appeared in “Great Grand Masti,” “Hate Story 4,” “Pagalpanti,” and most recently in “Daaku Maharaaj.”
