Inaugurating the “GST Jaagrookta Abhiyan,” Chief Minister Saha highlighted the state government’s active efforts to create a taxpayer-friendly environment through modern infrastructure and procedural simplification. The event took place at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala, where Saha also inaugurated the GST Knowledge Centre.

“Digital awareness among taxpayers will be further extended across Tripura to simplify tax transactions,” said the Chief Minister. He acknowledged taxpayers as key development partners and noted that the Union government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, introduced the GST in 2017 to streamline tax processes.

### Financial Highlights and Tax Contributions

For the ongoing financial year (2024-25), Tripura’s annual budget is Rs 27,800 crore. The state government collected Rs 3,700 crore in taxes from various organizations, business houses, and individuals. Chief Minister Saha pointed out that the previous Left Front government had taken a loan of Rs 13,000 crore from different organizations. The incumbent government has also taken loans from various institutions to manage bulk expenditures, including installment payments, loan interest, salaries for employees, and pensions for retired employees. He informed that the annual budget for 2025-26 would be presented in the State Assembly next month.
