Yogi Adityanath Intensifies Criticism of Opposition Over Murshidabad Violence

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched a scathing attack on opposition parties for their “silence” regarding the recent violence in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district. The unrest, which erupted during protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, has claimed multiple lives and caused significant property damage.

Speaking at an event in Lucknow, Adityanath accused opposition leaders of hypocrisy and selective outrage. He alleged that their inaction and failure to condemn the violence exposed their double standards. Drawing parallels to Uttar Pradesh’s past under previous governments, Adityanath remarked, “The Murshidabad of today was like the Muzaffarnagar, Bareilly, and Aligarh of yesterday, where riots were common, and the mafia ruled.”

The Chief Minister also criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of appeasement politics and failing to maintain law and order in the state. He claimed that the violence in Murshidabad was fueled by illegal Bangladeshi migrants and called for stricter measures to address the issue.

Adityanath further highlighted the achievements of his administration in transforming Uttar Pradesh into a safer and more prosperous state. He emphasized the importance of respecting national heroes and criticized the opposition for allegedly glorifying divisive historical figures.

The Murshidabad violence has sparked a political firestorm, with both sides trading barbs over the handling of the situation. As investigations continue, the incident remains a focal point of national debate on governance and communal harmony.
