Assam Political Shift: TMC Cachar Chief Rajesh Deb And 50 Leaders Join BJP

Political Landscape Shift in Assam

The political arena in Assam witnessed a significant development on Sunday as the Trinamool Congress encountered a major organizational setback in the Cachar district. A large group of local leaders and workers officially shifted their allegiance to the ruling party, altering the local dynamics ahead of upcoming civic elections.

Leadership Defection Ahead of Civic Polls

Rajesh Deb, who served as the Trinamool Congress district president for Cachar, decided to step down from his position and leave the party. Alongside him, senior leader Mohan Lal Das and a substantial contingent of 48 other members chose to abandon the opposition ranks. This mass movement of political figures comes at a crucial juncture, just prior to the Silchar Municipal Corporation election.

Official Induction by State Leadership

The transition event took place at the Cachar district office of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Dilip Saikia, the president of the Assam unit of the party, personally welcomed the new entrants into the fold. The integration of nearly fifty former opposition workers is viewed as a strategic strengthening of the ruling party’s grassroots presence in the Cachar region as campaign preparations for the civic polls gain momentum.
