Arunachal Chakma Womens Body Alleges Intimidation And Firing During SIR Hearing

Background of the Incident

Concerns have been raised regarding recent events in the Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh. The Arunachal Pradesh Chakma Women Welfare Society has come forward with serious allegations concerning safety and security during an administrative process.

According to official statements, the events unfolded during a Special Intensive Revision hearing. This proceeding took place in the Bordumsa area and focused on Chakma electors.

Allegations of Intimidation and Obstruction

The womens welfare organization detailed several troubling incidents that reportedly occurred during the early days of September. Specifically, the disturbances were noted on the third and fourth days of the month.

Reports indicate that participating electors faced significant hurdles. Many individuals had to travel considerable distances, ranging between ten and fifteen kilometres, to reach the designated venue.

During this travel and the subsequent proceedings, participants allegedly encountered severe opposition. The accusations include direct intimidation, physical obstruction of movement, and aggressive acts such as stone-pelting.

Reports of Firearm Discharge

Perhaps the most alarming claim made by the organization involves the use of weapons. Alongside the reported stone-pelting and obstruction, the statement pointed to the discharge of firearms during the hearing process.

These developments have caused considerable distress among the affected community members who were merely attempting to exercise their administrative rights. The local authorities and relevant bodies are expected to review these serious claims to ensure transparency and safety for all citizens participating in official electoral revisions.
