Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that the central government’s intentions, policies and decisions towards empowering the society are filling rural India with new energy.
PM Modi attended the Grameen Bharat Mahotsav 2025 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, which celebrates rural India’s spirit under the theme ‘Building a Resilient Rural India for Viksit Bharat 2047’.
Addressing the event, PM Modi said, “Our government’s intentions, policies and decisions are filling rural India with new energy: Our vision is to empower rural India by transforming villages into vibrant centres of growth and opportunity.”
He also highlighted India’s top-tier healthcare services that are reaching even the remotest areas and recalled the Covid era, mentioning that the world questioned how Indian villages would cope with the crisis.
“During the COVID pandemic, the world doubted how Indian villages would tackle the crisis, but we ensured vaccines reached the last person in every village. Strengthening the rural economy requires inclusive economic policies, and I am proud that over the last 10 years, our government has implemented special policies and decisions for every section in villages,” he said.
‘Clean Water, Basic Amenities Reached Every Village’
The Prime Minister highlighted the NDA-led BJP government’s track record and said that clean drinking water and basic amenities are reaching every household in lakhs of villages.
“Today, people are getting better options for health services in more than 1.5 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. With the help of digital technology, we have also connected the best doctors and hospitals in the country to the villages and have availed the benefit of telemedicine,” PM Modi remarked.
For strengthening the rural economy, it is very important that economic policies are made keeping in mind every section of the village, he noted.
Rs 3 Lakh Crore Assistance To Farmers
Under the PM-KISAN scheme, the Prime Minister noted that the Centre has provided approximately Rs. 3 lakh crore in financial assistance to farmers, with the vision to empower every section of society.
Over the past decade, the amount of agricultural loans has increased 3.5 times, he added. “I am happy that in the last 10 years, our government has made special policies and taken decisions for every section of the village. Just 2-3 days ago, the Cabinet approved the continuation of the PM Fasal Bima Yojana for one more year.”
PM Modi said that the Centre’s effort to pull out people from below the poverty line has proved successful. “Poverty in rural India fell below 5 pc in 2024 from about 26 pc in 2012,” said PM Modi, citing an SBI research report at Grameen Bharat Mahotsav.
