Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday said that the State Govt implemented stringent measures to ensure a peaceful and secure celebration of Durga Puja, adding that the Durga Puja celebrations were conducted peacefully and without any incidents this year.
He also said that the police and the local administration worked for the smooth organization of the festival in the city.
Speaking to ANI about the Durga Puja festival in Agartala, Saha said, “We eagerly wait for Durga Puja each year and await the arrival of Goddess Durga. The puja was conducted peacefully and without any incidents this year as well. People from across the state are coming here for the immersion of idols.”
“The police and local administration worked a lot for the smooth conduct of Durga Puja in the city. The festivities went on smoothly. Immersion of idols is also being done in an organised manner,” Saha added further.
Earlier, Tripura CM Saha visited several Durga Puja pandals in the state capital, Agartala, on the occasion of ‘Maha Ashtami’ on October 22.
CM Saha visited Durga Puja pandals of almost all shapes, sizes and budgets in different areas of Agartala and was pictured mingling and exchanging views with club members in the city.
As he hopped from one pandal to another, devotees and revellers were seen rubbing shoulders with the CM even as they offered prayers to the deity.
The chief minister even indulged in clicking selfies with members of local clubs and Puja committees.
Durga Puja is one of India’s most important festivals, and Vijaya Dashami marks the culmination of the festivities.
The festival of Navratri honours the defeat of the demonic Mahishasura and the triumph of good over evil. The 10th day of Sharad Navratri is celebrated as Dussehra or Vijaya Dashami.
