Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has been awarded the status of the Lowest Bidder (L1) for a significant project by South Western Railway, the company announced on Friday. The project involves the “Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) for the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of the 2×25 KV Overhead Electrification (OHE) and Power Supply (PSI) System” between Rayadurga and Topavagada in the TK-RDG section.
Project Scope and Details
The scope of the contract includes the establishment of Transmission Substations (TSS), Switching Posts (SPs), and Sectioning and Paralleling Posts (SSPs), along with electrical general services, engineering, and telecommunication works. The total project length is approximately 99.463 RKM/114.145 TKM. According to a SEBI circular, the project is domestic in nature, with an 18-month timeline for completion. The overall cost of the project is estimated at ₹156.36 crores.
Standard Business Operations
RVNL’s successful bid follows standard business operations, with no involvement from promoter group companies in the awarding of this contract. The company has confirmed that this contract does not fall under related party transactions.

RVNL is a public sector undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Railways. The company is responsible for developing and implementing rail infrastructure projects in India. Despite the announcement, shares of RVNL ended 3.4% lower at ₹368.50 on Friday, but have gained over 6% throughout the week.
