In a significant move towards the holistic development of Unakoti district, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday laid the foundation stones for 19 new projects and inaugurated 15 completed initiatives. The projects, with a combined estimated budget exceeding Rs 100 crore, span multiple sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, and community development.
Major Infrastructure Projects
The Chief Minister highlighted several key initiatives during the event, held at Chandipur block premises. Among the noteworthy projects are:
- District Magistrate and Samaharta Offices: Construction projects estimated at Rs 24 lakhs and Rs 20 lakhs, respectively.
- Kailashahar Sub-division Ruler’s Office: A budget of Rs 8 crore allocated for the project.
- District Transport Office, Kailashahar: Estimated at Rs 6.5 crore.
- Educational Infrastructure: Additional classrooms at Bhadrapally Higher Secondary School in Chandipur Block (Rs 8.51 crore) and infrastructure upgrades at Ramkamal Higher Secondary School under Kumarghat RD Division (Rs 14.74 crore).
Other projects include the construction of sub-health centers, veterinary hospitals, drug de-addiction centers, and recreational facilities like a tennis court in Kailashahar and a synthetic football field in Chinibagan, with costs ranging from Rs 63 lakhs to Rs 20 crore.
Focus on Community and Women’s Welfare
The foundation stones also included critical infrastructure such as the District Information System for Education Office and a Working Women’s Hostel at Kailashahar Paitur Bazar. These projects aim to enhance educational facilities, women’s welfare, and community infrastructure across the district.
Completed Projects Inaugurated
CM Saha inaugurated 15 completed projects, including government office buildings, schools, market stalls, a 50-bed hostel at Kailashahar District Training Center, community halls, footbridges, and renovated ponds. These projects reflect the government’s commitment to improving the quality of life for Unakoti residents.
Railway Infrastructure Development
Earlier, the Chief Minister held discussions with a delegation from Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) regarding ongoing railway development projects. The dialogue covered topics such as the electrification of railway lines, the introduction of electric passenger trains between Badarpur and Sabroom, double-line track conversion, the Agartala-Guwahati intercity rail service, and the construction of 23 railway overbridges. Plans are also in place to upgrade Agartala, Dharmanagar, and Udaipur railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Leadership and Vision
Speaking at the event, CM Saha reiterated the government’s commitment to sustainable development and the “double-engine” governance model under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He emphasized the importance of peace and good law and order in fostering growth, citing several recent peace accords that have contributed to stability in the Northeast.
The inauguration and foundation stone-laying ceremonies were attended by several dignitaries, including Social Education and Social Welfare Minister Tinku Roy, Health Department Secretary Kiran Gitte, Transport Department Secretary Chandra Kumar Jamatia, and State Social Education Department Director Tapan Kumar Das.
