Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has emphasized that the state’s budget for the financial year 2025-26 is a significant step toward realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India). The ₹32,423.44 crore tax-free budget, presented by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, prioritizes inclusive growth, fiscal discipline, and infrastructure development.
Addressing the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Dr. Saha highlighted the budget’s focus on welfare schemes for women, youth, tribals, Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes (OBCs), minorities, and differently-abled individuals. He described the budget as “people-oriented,” aiming to uplift all sections of society while maintaining transparency and accountability.
The Chief Minister noted that the state’s revenue collection has seen a significant rise, from ₹1,915 crore in 2017-18 to an expected ₹4,514 crore in 2025-26, reflecting the government’s commitment to building a self-reliant Tripura. He also assured that the debt-to-GSDP ratio would remain within the permissible limit of 3%, with provisions for ₹1,225 crore in market debt.
Dr. Saha credited the BJP-led government’s “double-engine” model—collaboration between the state and central governments—for the state’s socio-economic progress. He also highlighted ongoing projects under the External Aided Scheme and initiatives like the Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana, which supports underprivileged families.
The budget underscores Tripura’s alignment with India’s broader economic goals, including becoming the world’s third-largest economy by 2030. Dr. Saha expressed confidence that the state’s development trajectory would continue to gain national recognition.
