Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has reiterated his government’s commitment to the development and welfare of the state’s indigenous tribes. Speaking at a recent event, Dr. Saha highlighted various initiatives aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of tribal communities, emphasizing the importance of inclusive growth and cultural preservation.
The Chief Minister pointed to the implementation of the Tribal Development Mission, which focuses on enhancing livelihood opportunities for tribal families through skill development and job-oriented training. The mission, backed by a ₹30 crore allocation for its first financial year, aims to uplift the socio-economic status of indigenous tribes by providing targeted support and infrastructure development.
Dr. Saha also addressed allegations of inadequate funding for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), asserting that the state government has allocated substantial resources for the region’s development. He emphasized that the government is working to modernize tribal hostels, improve healthcare facilities, and promote education among tribal youth.
In addition to economic initiatives, the government has taken steps to preserve and showcase the rich cultural heritage of Tripura’s indigenous communities. Programs such as the Tripuri Cultural & Food Festival aim to promote traditional art forms, cuisine, and customs at the national level.
Dr. Saha reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to fostering harmony and progress, stating, “The development of a state or country is not possible without the upliftment of its indigenous communities. Our government is committed to ensuring that no one is left behind.”
