Working on major infrastructure projects often carries hidden dangers that workers must face daily. For Vishnu Thapa, a routine day on the job turned into a desperate fight for survival when disaster struck inside a remote mountain tunnel.
The Incident Begins
The crisis unfolded without warning deep underground. Visibility vanished instantly as the power grid failed, plunging the entire underground passage into absolute darkness. Moments after the lights died, rushing water began to fill the lower levels of the tunnel, cutting off standard escape routes and trapping the personnel inside.
A Perilous Journey
Thapa and a group of thirty-four colleagues found themselves completely isolated from the outside world. With the water level rising steadily around them, panic could have easily taken over. Instead, the group relied on composure and collective resolve to find a way out.
Navigating The Unknown
Moving through pitch-black surroundings filled with rushing water required extreme caution and teamwork. Every step forward was a calculated risk in the submerged passageway. The group had to feel their way along the tunnel walls, keeping each other grounded as the freezing water surged higher.
