Amit Shah Declares Mission to Eradicate Naxalism by March 2026

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has announced a bold initiative to eliminate Naxalism from India by March 31, 2026. Addressing the Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) 86th Raising Day function in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh, Shah emphasized the pivotal role of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and the CRPF in achieving this goal.

Shah highlighted the significant progress made in curbing Naxal-related violence, which has reportedly decreased by over 70% in recent years. He credited the establishment of more than 400 forward-operating bases in Naxal-affected areas for confining the insurgency to just four districts. The CRPF’s specialized CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) unit has been instrumental in these efforts, earning recognition for its expertise in guerrilla and jungle warfare.

During the ceremony, Shah paid tribute to the sacrifices of CRPF personnel, noting that 2,264 members have laid down their lives in service to the nation. He assured the families of fallen heroes that their contributions would be remembered as India strives to become a global power by 2047.

The Home Minister also announced plans to establish a new CoBRA battalion in Jammu and Kashmir, further strengthening the CRPF’s capabilities. He praised the force’s role in maintaining internal security, countering terrorism, and ensuring peace in the Northeast.

This ambitious mission reflects the government’s commitment to eradicating Naxalism and fostering development in affected regions. With the CAPF and CRPF leading the charge, India is poised to achieve a significant milestone in its fight against insurgency.
