“Difficult to Give Even Retirement Benefits”: Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Flags Financial Strain Amid Alleged Central Fund Shortage

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has raised alarm over the state’s financial stress, citing a shortfall in central government assistance as a key reason behind the difficulty in disbursing retirement benefits, fee reimbursements, and implementing flagship welfare schemes.

💬 CM Revanth Reddy: “We’re Struggling to Fulfill Basic Obligations”

Speaking at the Rythu Nestham event at PJT Agricultural University in Rajendranagar, Reddy said:

“It has become difficult to give retirement benefits to retired employees. It has become difficult to give fee reimbursement to college students. It has become difficult to implement Shaadi Mubarak and Kalyana Laxmi schemes.”

Despite these challenges, the CM announced the disbursement of ₹9,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme to over 70 lakh farmers, covering 1.49 lakh acres, reaffirming the government’s commitment to agriculture.

🏛️ Call for Fair Central Support

Reddy’s remarks come days after he urged the Centre at the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting to provide “liberal and fair” assistance for Telangana’s key infrastructure and welfare projects. He emphasized that “Viksit Bharat 2047” can only be achieved through state-level development, urging the Centre to support #TelanganaRising2047 in the spirit of “India First, People First”.

⚠️ Political Backlash and Governance Concerns

The opposition BRS and BJP have criticized the Congress-led state government for delayed salaries, alleging financial mismanagement. However, Reddy maintains that the state is working to rectify systemic issues and fulfill its promises despite fiscal constraints.
