DRI Officers Seize 5kg of Nepal-Origin Charas Concealed Under Sarees at Uttar Pradesh Station

Law enforcement agencies have intensified security protocols following a significant narcotics seizure in northern India. Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officers successfully intercepted a smuggling attempt at a railway station in Uttar Pradesh. The operation led to the recovery of a substantial quantity of illicit substances originating from across the international border.

Intelligence Gathering and Operation Execution

The operation was initiated based on precise intelligence received by the enforcement agency. Officials monitored specific passenger movements and targeted individuals suspected of involvement in cross-border drug trafficking networks. The meticulous planning by the intelligence team ensured a swift and effective interception at the railway premises.

Concealment Methods Used by Suspects

During the thorough search and inspection process, authorities uncovered an unusual concealment technique employed by the suspects. Eleven distinct packets containing the contraband were discovered securely fastened around the thighs of two female passengers. The perpetrators had ingeniously utilized knee caps strapped underneath their traditional sarees in an attempt to evade detection by routine security checks.

Details of the Seized Contraband

Laboratory verification and subsequent official reports confirmed the nature and scale of the confiscated material. The recovered substance was identified as high-grade charas originating from Nepal. The total weight of the seized narcotics amounted to approximately 5.088 kilograms. Market evaluation estimates the value of the confiscated illegal consignment to be around ₹5.08 crore.

Legal Proceedings and Investigation

Following the recovery of the contraband, the two women were immediately taken into custody by the enforcement personnel. Authorities initiated formal legal proceedings under relevant provisions of the law. Investigators are currently working to trace the broader supply chain and identify other key operators connected to this cross-border narcotics syndicate.
