Adani Defence & Aerospace has entered into a strategic partnership with Sparton (DeLeon Springs LLC), a subsidiary of Elbit Systems, to indigenise anti-submarine warfare (ASW) solutions for the Indian Navy. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in India’s efforts to reduce dependence on foreign imports and strengthen its maritime defence capabilities.
Advancing India’s Undersea Warfare Capabilities
The partnership will focus on localizing the production of sonobuoys, which are critical underwater surveillance devices used to detect, locate, and track submarines. Historically, India has relied on foreign original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for such technology, but this initiative aligns with the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ programs to boost domestic defence manufacturing.
