Amit Shah Accuses TMC Government of Aiding Illegal Infiltration

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during a debate in the Lok Sabha on the Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025, leveled serious allegations against the Trinamool Congress (TMC)-led West Bengal government. Shah accused the state administration of facilitating illegal infiltration by providing fake identity documents such as Aadhaar and voter ID cards to infiltrators from Bangladesh.

Highlighting the incomplete border fencing along the India-Bangladesh border, Shah stated that 450 kilometers of fencing work remains pending due to non-cooperation from the West Bengal government. He alleged that the state’s inaction and interference have hindered national security efforts, with ruling party workers reportedly obstructing fencing activities through disruptive behavior.

Shah further claimed that the TMC government has shown leniency towards infiltrators, enabling their entry into India. He emphasized the need for stricter immigration laws to safeguard national security and streamline the monitoring of foreign arrivals. The Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025, which aims to consolidate and modernize immigration laws, was passed by the Lok Sabha despite opposition.

The Home Minister also expressed confidence that the BJP would address these issues if it comes to power in West Bengal in the 2026 Assembly elections. He reiterated the government’s commitment to curbing illegal infiltration and ensuring the nation’s security.
