In a decisive action against illegal immigration, Assam Police intercepted and deported five Bangladeshi nationals from the Sribhumi district early Thursday morning. The operation, part of the state’s ongoing crackdown on infiltration, underscores Assam’s commitment to securing its borders and upholding immigration laws.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the efforts of the Sribhumi Police, highlighting their vigilance in preventing unauthorized entries. In a statement shared on social media, Sarma emphasized the state’s zero-tolerance policy toward illegal immigration, noting that over 330 infiltrators have been pushed back in the last seven months.
The apprehended individuals were identified as Abdulla, Ansarulla, Roshid Ahammed, Md. Kalim Mulla, and Happy Seikh. Following their arrest, authorities conducted thorough verification processes before deporting them to Bangladesh. The operation reflects heightened surveillance along the 1,885-km India-Bangladesh border, which has seen increased activity due to disturbances in the neighboring country.
The Border Security Force (BSF) and Assam Police have intensified their efforts to prevent illegal crossings, ensuring round-the-clock monitoring of border areas. This proactive stance aims to safeguard national security and maintain the integrity of India’s borders.
The state’s commitment to an infiltration-free Assam continues to drive such operations, reinforcing the importance of vigilance and collaboration among law enforcement agencies. This latest action serves as a reminder of the challenges posed by illegal immigration and the measures required to address them effectively.
