BSF Seizes 43,800 Yaba Tablets Worth ₹4.5 Crore Near Indo-Bangladesh Border

In a significant breakthrough against trans-border narcotics trafficking, the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully intercepted a consignment of 43,800 Yaba tablets near the Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura’s Sepahijala district. The seized contraband, valued at approximately ₹4.5 crore, underscores the BSF’s intensified efforts to curb illegal activities along the international border.

Acting on specific intelligence, BSF personnel stationed at the NC Nagar Border Out Post (BOP) observed suspicious movement near the border. Upon being challenged, the smugglers abandoned the consignment on Indian soil and fled the scene. A thorough search of the area led to the recovery of 21 packets containing the Yaba tablets.

In addition to this operation, BSF troops seized other contraband items worth ₹3.68 lakh from various locations along the Tripura border on the same day. The seized items have been handed over to the concerned authorities for further legal action.

This successful operation highlights the BSF’s commitment to ensuring national security and combating cross-border smuggling. The agency continues to maintain heightened vigilance along the 856-km India-Bangladesh border in Tripura, which has been a hotspot for narcotics trafficking.

Earlier this week, a joint operation by Assam Rifles and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Teliamura, Tripura, resulted in the seizure of 60,000 Yaba tablets worth ₹6 crore and the arrest of two individuals involved in the smuggling racket.

The BSF’s proactive measures reflect its dedication to safeguarding India’s borders and preventing the influx of illegal substances into the country. These operations serve as a reminder of the challenges posed by trans-border trafficking and the importance of coordinated efforts to address them effectively.
