Agartala, April 7, 2025 – Tension gripped the Ballamukha village in South Tripura district after locals discovered a drone fitted with a camera in a paddy field near the Indo-Bangladesh border. The drone was spotted approximately 300 meters from the barbed wire fencing on the Indian side of the border, raising concerns about its origin and purpose.
According to reports, a farmer first noticed the drone and immediately informed the local police. Villagers claimed to have seen a similar drone flying over the area in recent days, possibly conducting aerial surveys. The Tripura Police and Border Security Force (BSF) have launched a joint investigation to determine whether the drone originated from Bangladesh and its intended use.
The drone has been seized and is currently under forensic examination to retrieve data and trace its flight path. Authorities are treating the incident with caution, given the sensitive nature of the border region. Tripura shares an 857-kilometer border with Bangladesh, most of which is fenced, except for a few disputed patches.
This discovery has heightened security concerns, with officials emphasizing the need for vigilance along the international border. Further updates are awaited as investigations continue.
