Gorakhpur Link Expressway Inaugurated by CM Yogi Adityanath: ₹7,283 Crore Corridor to Transform Eastern Uttar Pradesh

In a major infrastructure milestone, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the 91.35-kilometre Gorakhpur Link Expressway, a ₹7,283 crore project designed to enhance connectivity, logistics, and economic growth across eastern Uttar Pradesh.

🛣️ Key Highlights of the Gorakhpur Link Expressway

  • Route: Connects Jaitpur (NH-27, Gorakhpur) to Salarpur (Azamgarh), linking directly to the Purvanchal Expressway
  • Districts Covered: Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, and Azamgarh
  • Design: Four-lane, access-controlled expressway with provision for future expansion to six lanes
  • Construction: Executed in two phases by APCO Infratech and Dilip Buildcon Ltd

“This expressway is a symbol of eastern UP’s transformation—from a ‘BIMARU’ region to a growth engine of India,” said CM Yogi Adityanath during the inauguration ceremony.

🚗 Travel Efficiency and Economic Impact

  • Travel time to towns like Urwa and Khajni reduced by over 50%
  • 1,148.77 hectares acquired from 172 villages; ₹2,030 crore paid in compensation to 22,029 farmers
  • Equipped with Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) including CCTV, ANPR, and speed monitoring

The expressway is expected to boost rural connectivity, decongest local highways, and attract industrial investments, especially in agriculture, logistics, and manufacturing sectors.

🏗️ Part of a Larger Expressway Vision

With this launch, Uttar Pradesh now boasts seven operational expressways, five of which were completed in the last eight years. The state is also developing six more expressways, reinforcing its status as India’s infrastructure powerhouse.
