The highly-anticipated sequel, Phir Hera Pheri 3, starring Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty, has been the talk of Bollywood. Nearly three years ago, veteran actor Paresh Rawal confirmed that Kartik Aaryan was set to be part of the franchise, stirring excitement and speculation among fans.
Recently, Paresh Rawal clarified his previous comments, revealing that Kartik Aaryan was signed for an earlier version of Hera Pheri 3, which had a different storyline. In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Rawal explained that Kartik’s role was not meant to replace Akshay Kumar’s iconic character, Raju. Instead, it was a different character altogether.
“That was a different story then, and he was brought for the role of Raju, but it was actually a different character. This was the story as much as I know. I hadn’t listened to the entire script,” Rawal said.
Rawal further clarified that Akshay Kumar was always supposed to join the project, and the current version of the film, directed by Priyadarshan, has undergone significant changes. “The story has changed now, and Priyadarshan has joined the project,” he noted.
For context, back in 2022, a fan on X asked Paresh Rawal if it was true that Kartik Aaryan was doing Hera Pheri 3. Rawal had responded affirmatively, which fueled widespread speculation about the film’s casting.
In the same interview, Rawal shared an update about the film’s shooting schedule, mentioning that they are expected to begin filming by August or September 2025. Earlier this year, Priyadarshan officially announced Hera Pheri 3 in response to Akshay Kumar’s birthday wish, expressing his willingness to direct the film and reunite the original trio.
With the original cast reuniting and Priyadarshan at the helm, Phir Hera Pheri 3 promises to bring back the iconic humor and charm that made the franchise a fan favorite.
