IPL 2025: Jasprit Bumrah Among Key Players Missing the Start of the Season

The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) begins with a notable absence—Mumbai Indians’ star pacer Jasprit Bumrah. The ace bowler is recovering from a lower back injury sustained earlier this year and is undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. His absence is expected to impact Mumbai Indians’ bowling lineup significantly, especially in the death overs.

Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene acknowledged the challenge posed by Bumrah’s absence, emphasizing the need for other players to step up and fill the void. The team will rely on experienced pacers like Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar to lead the attack in the initial matches.

Bumrah’s recovery is being closely monitored, and while there is optimism about his return later in the season, the exact timeline remains uncertain. Mumbai Indians kick off their campaign against Chennai Super Kings on March 23 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, followed by matches against Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders.

As the tournament progresses, fans will be eager to see how Mumbai Indians adapt to the absence of their star bowler and whether Bumrah can make a comeback to bolster their title aspirations.
