IPL 2025: Andy Flower Confident in RCB’s Spin Attack

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) head coach Andy Flower has expressed confidence in the team’s spin attack as they gear up for the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). With matches scheduled at spin-friendly venues like Kolkata and Chennai, Flower believes RCB’s spin department, led by Krunal Pandya, is well-equipped to handle the challenges.

Krunal Pandya, an experienced left-arm orthodox spinner, will spearhead the spin attack. Known for his defensive bowling style, Krunal’s IPL economy rate of 7.36 and average of 34.28 make him a reliable option, especially on batting-friendly pitches like the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Flower highlighted Krunal’s leadership qualities and cricketing intelligence as key factors in his selection during the auction.

Supporting Krunal are wrist-spinners Suyash Sharma and Mohit Rathee, along with part-time spinner Liam Livingstone. Flower described Suyash as an exciting young talent with immense potential, though he emphasized the need for patience as the player gains experience. Mohit Rathee and Livingstone add depth to the spin unit, providing versatility and options for the team.

While acknowledging concerns about the relatively untested spin lineup, Flower remains optimistic. “Krunal’s experience, combined with the potential of our young spinners and Livingstone’s versatility, gives us confidence,” he stated during a press conference.

RCB’s fast-bowling unit, featuring seasoned players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood, complements the spin attack, ensuring a balanced bowling lineup. As RCB prepares to kick off their campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, Flower’s faith in the team’s bowling resources will be put to the test.

The IPL 2025 season promises to be an exciting one for RCB fans, as the team aims to make a strong start under the guidance of their experienced coach.
