Manipur: Clash Between UNLF Militants and Arambai Tenggol Members Leaves Four Injured

In a violent altercation in Manipur’s Imphal East district, four militants of the banned United National Liberation Front (UNLF) faction, Pambei, sustained injuries following a clash with members of the radical Meitei organization, Arambai Tenggol. The incident, which unfolded on Saturday afternoon, has heightened tensions in the region.

Details of the Incident

The clash occurred when approximately 15-20 members of Arambai Tenggol stormed the residence of Irengbam Nandakumar Singh, a 56-year-old UNLF militant, in Kongpal Chingangbam Leikai. Armed with sticks, the attackers targeted the insurgents present in the house, resulting in blunt injuries to four UNLF members. The confrontation escalated to an exchange of gunfire, prompting security forces to intervene.

Police Action and Seizures

The injured UNLF militants were taken into custody and are currently receiving medical treatment, with their condition reported as stable. Meanwhile, the attackers managed to flee the scene. In a subsequent raid on an Arambai Tenggol office in the Khurai area, security forces seized a range of items, including three vehicles, suspected heroin, bulletproof plates, wireless handsets, bayonets, and swords. No arrests have been made from the Arambai Tenggol group so far.
