PCB Chief Expresses Disappointment Over BCCI’s Refusal to Visit Pakistan Amid India-Pakistan Champions Trophy Showdown

The highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is finally underway in Dubai. Despite being the sole host nation for the tournament, Pakistan’s team and management traveled to the UAE, a result of a well-publicized standoff between the two cricket boards and their respective governments. PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi has reiterated his disappointment over India’s refusal to play in Pakistan.

### Naqvi’s Statement

Speaking to PTI before traveling with the team to Dubai, Naqvi expressed his discontent, stating, “It is disappointing—not just for the PCB, but also for cricket fans worldwide, the ICC, its commercial partners, and the other participating countries—that India is not playing in Pakistan.” Naqvi highlighted that Pakistan has visited India on several occasions for major ICC tournaments, while India last played in Pakistan nearly 20 years ago.

### Missed Opportunities

Naqvi emphasized that the absence of an India-Pakistan contest on Pakistani soil is a missed opportunity for Indian players. “I think it is also a missed opportunity for Indian players to experience the warmth, love, and hospitality that Pakistan has always extended to visiting teams,” Naqvi remarked. He pointed out that no member of the current Indian team has played in Pakistan during their senior careers.

### Commitment to a Memorable Tournament

Despite the setback, Naqvi reiterated his commitment to delivering a world-class event in Pakistan. “Nonetheless, we remain focused on delivering a world-class event, ensuring that cricket takes center stage. It is undoubtedly disappointing that India is not playing in Pakistan, but we are committed to providing a memorable tournament,” Naqvi concluded.

### Match Highlights

In the ongoing match, India was set a target of 242 to chase after a strong performance with the ball in the first innings. Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets, and Hardik Pandya contributed with a couple. Saud Shakeel top-scored for Pakistan with 62 runs.
