Robin Uthappa Condemns RCB Fans for Misbehavior and Trolling Ahead of IPL 2025 Clash

Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa has strongly criticized sections of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans for their misbehavior and trolling, stating that the rivalry between RCB and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has escalated beyond sportsmanship.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Uthappa revealed that he witnessed women being heckled outside the stadium following RCB’s victory over CSK earlier this season. He described the behavior as “unsavory and uncalled for”, urging fans to maintain respect and dignity in their interactions.

Fan Rivalry Turning Hostile

Uthappa, who has played for both RCB and CSK, expressed concern over the increasing toxicity among fan bases. He pointed out that some RCB supporters were seen wearing white T-shirts with black stripes, referencing CSK’s two-year suspension from the IPL in 2016 and 2017. The shirts featured MS Dhoni’s jersey number (7) and the word “Thala”, implying imprisonment.

“It has gotten pretty intense. They are holding up jerseys, white T-shirts marked with black lines, stating the two years that CSK were banned for. They have kind of written MS’ number on it, and Thala under it, depicting that they were in jail for two years, or whatever. It’s getting a little beyond sport which concerns me. Because at the end of the day, this is a sport,” Uthappa stated.

Appeal for Sportsmanship

Uthappa emphasized that rivalries should remain within the spirit of the game, rather than turning into personal attacks or public hostility. He urged fans to enjoy the spectacle of IPL while upholding mutual respect and sportsmanship.

As IPL 2025 enters its final phase, Uthappa’s remarks serve as a reminder that passion for cricket should not translate into harassment or toxic behavior. His call for introspection and restraint among fan bases highlights the need for a positive and respectful sporting culture.
